It’s been a hot minute since I have posted… 😬I figured there is no better time than now to give you a little life update! Nothing crazy is going on, but enough to keep me rather busy and fighting for balance in life!
This year has been very different. Not bad different, but different enough that it has thrown me for a loop at times. Finding balance is something I am still working on!
The biggest change this year has been starting at a new university! I posted in my previous life update I gave you the low down as to why. But I have been really liking it! The school is great, the people are kind, and I just feel a lot more comfortable there. At the same time, it is challenging, which duh… it is university! I finished my first semester in July and while several grades are still not posted, I do have a relatively good feeling about things!
The biggest change at my new university was realizing that I have time to have a life outside of studying! So, I quickly decided to look for a job. I spent the whole semester searching but did not end up being successful until July. I took a job as a receptionist at a marketing agency, but life had some other plans for me.
First of all, I badly sprained my ankle the weekend before my third week at this job. The sprain forced me to stay home for a week, which was not at all what I wanted to do. Then, in week four, I got a job offer from a different company. I was forced to be selfish and make a pro-con list for both jobs, and in the end, the job offer won. Thus, I had to have the uncomfortable 2 weeks notice conversation with my boss. Thankfully, she was very understanding, along with the rest of my coworkers. I preceded to work at that job for the new 2-3 weeks and in the days before my last day… I got sick.
Never before have I felt SO uncomfortable to have had my body fail me twice within such a short period of time! Of course, everyone was super understanding and reassured me that life happens, but I was really disappointed in myself to leave such an impression at a place I worked at for such a short period of time. I did not do this on purpose, obviously, but I still felt awkward! Thankfully, there were no hard feelings whatsoever and I left that job on great terms with everyone. I have since started my new job!
It is a Corporate Communications job at a publishing house. My tasks vary from social media to blogging and other communications tasks. It is super challenging, but I think this is exactly what I need right now. I needed a little push out of my comfort zone. The team is small but fun, and I do really think that I have a lot of growth potential in this role and look forward to all of the challenges I will experience there!
I also continue to be a virtual health and fitness coach! It is a great way to hold me accountable, but I also love that I can help others make healthy life changes or help them start their own business too! It is such a flexible job since all I need is my computer and some small chunks of time throughout the day. Which is great, because I am doing a little traveling before my semester break is over!
Next week, I will be visiting Hamburg, Germany for about 5-6 days! This is actually where I was born. We moved away when I was 5, so I do know the city at all! I will be visiting our old neighbor and she is going to show me the city. It will be good to get away from Stuttgart for a little bit and get to know the place I am from better. I also would love to go to the Black Forest for a few days. I will have to see what time will allow me, but I am very keen on exploring a little bit before the craziness begins again.
Otherwise, I am looking forward to a fun fall/winter! I have a few other weekend trips that I would like to take and Jonathan is planning on being here for Christmas. And… if I can scratch lots of pennies together, I will be joining him in New Zealand in February for his work conference.
What does all of this mean for the blog? Well, be prepared for some travel related blog posts coming up soon! I also have some recipes that I will be sharing soon, and otherwise, I want to hear from you! What would you like to see more of? I tend to overthink this whole blogging thing way too much and create my own writer’s block through the pressure I put on myself! So, I am trying to alleviate the pressure a bit and want to focus on creating fun, interesting, and useful content! So don’t be shy, share what you would like to know more about with me and I will get it out there for you!
Well, ladies and gents… I’m back. I hope you enjoyed a little insight into what has been going on in my life lately! I hope you are all having a great September thus far and are happy and healthy!
